The last one took place in April 2021, right in the middle of the Corona period. At that time, cruise trips were just being cautiously reopened. At that time, we were not traveling on the AIDAcosma, but on the AIDAperla. Only 500 passengers were allowed on board. Since the regulations were different in the countries, the island of La Palma was visited instead of Madeira. The remaining destinations (Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote) were identical to this cruise. Last time, due to Corona, you were only allowed to disembark on guided shore excursions. So we booked the big tour on each island so that we could still see as much as possible. For this reason, we concentrated on other excursion destinations on this cruise and skipped some of the real highlights. But that was not a problem at all, except for a few moments. Only during the fireworks in Funchal and on the two days at sea did it feel cramped. Otherwise, the people were well distributed on the ship and on days with shore leave it was no problem anyway. We arrived 3 days before the cruise started. So we had the opportunity to get to know the island of Gran Canaria a little. This time we were traveling with a rental car. 32:03 Journey home Conclusion: We really enjoyed the Canary Islands cruise over New Year's Eve and the warmth in the middle of winter. Nevertheless, we would not go on board AIDAcosma again over New Year's Eve, as the ship was very full and the trip is very expensive due to the special time. In any case, it is worth reserving as many things as possible (restaurants, rental cars, shore excursions, etc.) early. The Canary Islands are a very worthwhile destination! The islands are extremely diverse and the climate is very pleasant, even in winter.
