Two adult female lizards caught in July. They laid eggs in their abdomens, but perhaps because of a failure in temperature control, they did not hatch (maybe I raised the temperature too high because I wanted females to lay eggs, or were the eggs infertile in the first place?). There seem to be a lot of lizards around my house, but I would prefer females with less noticeable white lines on their sides (close to a solid color), but it's hard to catch them in the first place. So, although the two I caught in July had normal body colors, I kept them for the breeding season. In the fall, while I was wondering whether to release both or keep only one, it gradually became cooler. Even if I kept one, one seemed easy to keep but seemed old, and the other was timid and always hiding (it would be difficult to get it to remember artificial food) and was missing the tip of one of its fingers. However, part of its color was brick-colored and beautiful, so I was really worried about which one to keep, and I was thinking about keeping both until the end. At that time, I caught two monochromatic babies, so I decided to release the old-looking female. It just so happened that today was a day when I often saw grass lizards. ↓Lizard-related playlist↓ • Daily life of grass lizards #Japanese grass lizard #Japanese grass lizard breeding #grass lizard breeding #lizard ecology observation #Japanese grass lizard #reptile breeding #skink #grass lizard
