True crimes and exciting criminal cases from Cologne and the surrounding area In 2012, the small town of Sötenich in the Eifel region became known nationwide: reports about the "murderous village community" or the "Eifel village with the deadly secret" made headlines. Of course, that was exaggerated, but what attracted so much attention was actually more than an everyday criminal case. A murderer found numerous people in the family and neighborhood who helped him remove evidence and the body. The new episode of True Crime Cologne, the podcast series from the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger, reopens the case. In the basement of a car dealership, an argument between two business partners escalated. The perpetrator grabbed a loaded hunting rifle and killed his friend with two shots. Immediately after the crime, the shooter's father entered the car dealership and became the first helper and accomplice. The wife and a friend cleaned the workshop, an acquaintance sawed up the weapon and sank it in a lake. Little by little, the number of those who were in the know but didn't ask any questions grew. The body lay in the car dealership for almost two weeks and finally on a trailer that was parked in the middle of town. A better hiding place didn't seem necessary. Then the body was taken to a garbage dump. There, one of the secretive community broke away and called the police.
