I tried making the 189 series N102 train with Plarail. I used the 485 series Raicho 2 train. To reduce costs, the two rear cars were converted to intermediate cars to make it a 6-car train. Therefore, the front and rear cars are powered cars. The sign on the leading car toward Nagano says "Ohayo Liner" and the leading car toward Shinjuku says "Asama." I imagined the Ohayo Liner, which was the last regular service, and the time when it was running around as a special service just before retirement. I used the same construction method I used when I made the 485 series Hokuetsu on the Hokuriku Main Line. The actual car has two passenger doors on each side, but due to the length of the car, only one door is on one side. The 189 series was modified from the 183 series to cross the Usui Pass, which is said to be a difficult railway section. Until the Yokokawa-Karuizawa section was abolished, it was mainly used as the Asama Limited Express between Ueno and Nagano. After the abolition, it was used as the Ohayo Liner on the Shinonoi Line, the Myoko on the Shinetsu Main Line, and the Shinano Sunrise and Sunset on the Shinano Railway Line in the mornings and evenings. The Ohayo Liner was also the last regular operation of the 189 series. In fact, the 189 series N102 train is unique in that it has never left Nagano. It was also the last 189 series in Japan. As of September 2019, there has been no particular movement and it remains parked at the Nagano General Rolling Stock Center, so I'm very curious about its future.
