How many implants are needed to fix a protocol prosthesis? This video is for you who want to better understand the process and make informed decisions about your treatment. Keep reading and watch the entire video to discover valuable information that can transform your smile and your quality of life. 1️⃣ Number of Implants Needed Did you know that you don't need an implant for every missing tooth? That's right! Many people believe that every missing tooth must be replaced with an implant, but this is not true. Typically, just four implants are enough to fix an entire prosthesis, both in the upper and lower arches. This approach reduces costs, surgery time, and the complexity of the treatment. Fewer implants does not mean less stability, thanks to modern force distribution techniques. 2️⃣ Importance of Tomography One of the most important tips I can give you is about the use of tomography in implant planning. Unlike panoramic imaging, tomography offers a detailed and accurate view of the bone conditions of the jaw and maxilla. This is crucial to avoid complications such as paresthesia, which is numbness caused by the proximity of implants to the mandibular nerve. Therefore, always insist on a CT scan to ensure safe and effective planning of your treatment. 3️⃣Quality of Materials When we talk about prosthetics, the quality of the materials makes all the difference. Choosing high-quality teeth, such as those from the German brand Kulser, can provide a much more natural aesthetic and significantly longer durability. These teeth have texture and shine characteristics that imitate natural teeth and are more resistant to wear and color change over the years. Although they may be more expensive, investing in quality ensures a prosthetic that remains beautiful and functional for much longer. 4️⃣Regular Maintenance Keeping your prosthetic in perfect condition requires a regular maintenance program. Even with artificial teeth, oral hygiene is still essential to prevent the accumulation of tartar and bacteria. I recommend visiting the dentist at least once a year to perform a professional cleaning and check the condition of the prosthetic. This ensures that you get the most out of the investment you made in your smile. 5️⃣Hygiene and Periodic Maintenance Program Protocol prostheses have an internal metal frame that joins the implants, providing greater stability. However, to ensure that you can keep the prosthesis clean and free of inflammation, it is crucial that adequate spaces are left for hygiene. Using dental floss and oral irrigators is essential to remove food residue and avoid bad odors. Here at the office, we always advise our patients on the importance of good hygiene for the longevity of the prosthesis. Did you like the information?
