The story of Our Lady of Aparecida begins in 1717, when three fishermen, while trying to fish in the Paraíba River, found a terracotta statue of a black woman. They first caught the head of the statue and then the body. After this discovery, they managed to catch a large quantity of fish, which was interpreted as a miracle. The statue, known as Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception of Aparecida, became an object of devotion and, over time, the fame of her miracles spread. In 1834, a small chapel was built in her honor, which later became the National Sanctuary of Aparecida, one of the largest Catholic pilgrimage centers in Brazil. The feast of Our Lady of Aparecida is celebrated on October 12, a date that is also Children's Day in Brazil, consolidating the figure of the saint as a symbol of protection and love. The image is considered the patron saint of Brazil and is an icon of faith for many Brazilians.
