The Japan Confederation of A- and H-Bomb Sufferers Organizations (Nihon Hidankyo), which has appealed to the world for the abolition of nuclear weapons from the perspective of atomic bomb survivors, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in October 2024. The award ceremony was held in Oslo, the capital of Norway, on December 10th, and was attended by representative committee members and supporters of the Hidankyo. BBC presenter Stephen Thacker spoke to one of the representative committee members, Mr. Hidemi Tanaka (92), who survived the atomic bombing of Nagasaki.
