In France, the so-called "travellers" community numbers 350,000 people, or less than 1% of the population. Living on the fringes of society and not necessarily seeking to integrate, their movements, but especially their settlements, cause concern and often arouse reluctance and suspicion as they pass through. Most of them work in markets or live on social assistance, but they are often suspected of theft or other crimes of all kinds. For decades, these nomads have moved around without constraints, but today, it is increasingly difficult for them to park in a municipality. Despite the promulgation of a law, which orders municipalities with more than 5,000 inhabitants, to provide parking areas for travelers, 3 out of 4 municipalities refuse to comply. Consequently, they are forced to park illegally on private land. This documentary presents a gypsy family on the roads of France, between family gatherings and improvised camps, then a team of specialized police officers as well as mayors, torn between the law and their electorate.
