As a supplement to the presentation of the bells of the Görlitz city church of St. Peter and Paul, today I am presenting another recording of the plenary session from various locations around the church. The aim is to show how differently the St. Peter's Church bells sound from different locations. 0:00 - start 0:10 - 1st location: Krebsgasse 1:44 - 2nd location: north side, direct sound of the prayer bell 2:45 - 3rd location: north side, Gottfried-Kiesow-Platz 3:46 - 4th location: south side 4:36 - 5th location: corner of Nikolai-/Peterstraße 5:29 - end of the ringing: Krebsgasse 1) The recording begins in the small parking lot in Krebsgasse, west of St. Peter's Church with a view of the west front. The ringing can be heard most balanced here, as the sound windows of all the bell chambers are visible here. 2) I have now moved to the north side of St. Peter's Church, I was now standing on Gottfried-Kiesow-Platz in the direct sound of the prayer bell, which rings in the lower bell chamber of the north tower. On the day of the recording, you could easily see the ringing bell from my position. 3) The recording was made from the north-east diagonal to the north tower. The prayer bell naturally dominates the ringing here too. 4) On the south side, the ringing is very quiet. You might think it is coming from another church a few streets away. 5) At the corner of Peterstrasse and Nikolaistrasse, where I usually heard the ringing of St. Peter's Church until I discovered the location in Krebsgasse, the two smaller bells in the central building dominate and push the prayer bell into the background. There are no open sound hatches in the north tower facing this location. 6) The last few minutes of the ringing were again made from Krebsgasse, where the ringing can be heard most balanced. For data on the church and the bells, I refer to the bell presentation: • Görlitz (GR): Bells of the Protestant city... The recording was made on September 10, 2023. The bells rang from 9:47 a.m. for the communion service at 10 a.m.
