The International Maritime Defense Industry Exhibition (MADEX 2023), where visitors can see everything from a medium-sized Korean aircraft carrier and a model of a joint firepower ship called a "mobile maritime weapon depot" to actual unmanned surface vehicles, which are the core of manned and unmanned complex maritime systems, opened yesterday (the 7th) at BEXCO in Busan. MADEX began in 1998 as the International Fleet Review of the Navy, and this year is its 13th year. At the event, which will be held until the 9th, models of new ships from domestic shipbuilding companies are expected to capture the attention of visitors. HD Hyundai Heavy Industries introduced a model of a "medium-sized" aircraft carrier that has been enlarged to a 40,000-ton class, instead of the existing 30,000-ton class (based on light displacement without load) light aircraft carrier.
