Jin Hiramoto established the use of heavy sinking minnows for trout fishing in mountain streams. We bring you his fishing trip in the summer of 2022 in the Tohoku mountain streams that are his home. The setting is the Mogami River system in Yamagata Prefecture. The summer of 2022 saw little water nationwide due to an unusually short rainy season. Yamagata is no exception, with many rivers with low water levels. Even in such conditions, Hiramoto uses his minnowing skills to reel in beautiful yamame trout and large iwana.
