In the 21st century, modern people are busy. Because they are busy, they run and pave roads to run better. However, there are still rough and rugged off-roads all over the world, and there are people who travel slowly on those roads. Roads that are not roads that do not allow access to humans, and thus preserve the original nature. Therefore, all of those roads boast magnificent and outstanding scenery. However, humans broke the taboo and stepped into the realm of the gods, and many people lost their lives while traveling on those roads. These roads are called Death Roads because they are roads that risk one's life. However, if you look closely at those roads, they are all roads of life that continue human life. The most dangerous, but also the most beautiful road in the world. We will depict the landscape of Death Road, where life and death coexist, and the stories of the people who live there. A travelogue in search of those who live on the road where life and death coexist ■ (1) Dolpo, the last remote area of Nepal Susan, a Nepali, seemed a bit surprised by the word 'Dolpo'. It is considered the most rugged land among the mountainous regions of Nepal, and even Nepalese people do not go there often. However, at this time of year, people gather at Dolpo along the narrow road that can easily lead to a thousand-foot cliff if you make a mistake. They are looking for Cordyceps sinensis (Yachagumba, Kira) that can be obtained at an altitude of 4,500m in the Dolpo area. The harvesting period lasts only two months. If you work hard during that time, you can live for a year, so they stop what they are doing and come from all over the country. I decided to follow their journey. The first destination was the capital city, Kathmandu. Susan's house. When I met my parents and grandmother for the first time in a long time and explained this trip, my family was very worried. They said that they were not worried because the road was rough, but because they were about to turn 30 and were not married. I left my parents' worries behind and headed to Dolpo. To get to Dolpo, you had to go to Nepalganj first. And then again to Juphal by plane. The plane was a 15-seater light plane, and the time and number of passengers were all random. It was already dizzying to see the plane taking off and landing along the gravel runway on the side of the mountain. After arriving at Juphal on a bumpy light plane, there was no more transportation. We had to meet people and donkey porters and form a team, and then continue walking. Susan was the same age as the porters. Walking with good friends made the rough journey somewhat enjoyable. After walking for five days with the team, we arrived at Dunai, the largest city in the Dolpo area. One by one, we noticed people gathering to find Cordyceps militaris. We hurried our steps to Dotarap, a village like an advance base where we stopped to dig for Cordyceps militaris. Let’s follow the journey of those who realize the importance of the road while camping in the bosom of nature that boasts an unimaginable scale. ■ (2) In search of Yachagumba, a gift from Mother Nature A thousand-foot cliff, a narrow path that is difficult to stick a needle in. We go to find golden herbs along a path that fits the typical expressions used to describe dangerous paths. We are nervous because we don’t know when rocks will fall, and our breathing becomes faster with every step we take, but we are awed by the scale of Mother Nature that is so great that it defies human imagination. Our first destination is Do Tarap, a village located at an altitude of about 4,000 m. It is a village like a forward base for going to Tangbochae, where Cordyceps sinensis are found. Since the Cordyceps sinensis harvesting period is fixed, it is important to be on time, so we hurriedly arrived, but we heard that the harvesting date has been postponed by five days this year. Thanks to this, we have some free time. Susan interacts with the villagers and has a good time with the porters who came with us. Finally, the door to Cordyceps sinensis harvesting opens... We head to Tangbochae Hill at an altitude of 4,800 m. People who crawl on the ground and search for Cordyceps sinensis all talk about hope. From a boy who is determined to study and support his family with the money he earns, to a mother who finds strength in thinking of her children. We meet people who face life purely and live honestly each day. ✔ Program name: World Theme Travel - Special inaugural feature The Road of Life, Death Road Part 2-3 ✔ Broadcast date: 2017.06.27~28 00:00:00 (1) Dolpo, the last remote area of Nepal 00:31:48 (2) In search of Yachagumba, a gift from Mother Nature
