The film tells the story of a mayor named Abdel Razek El-Shershaby, when his youngest son Tawfik is called up for military service. His wife (Safiya El-Omari) refuses to let him go, so someone suggests that he send someone to impersonate his son to enlist instead of him. After a lot of intimidation and enticement, he convinces a poor father named Abdel Mawgoud (Ezzat El-Alaili) to send his son Masry (Abdullah Mahmoud) to enlist, even though he is the only child of his mother and father, in exchange for giving him five acres.
