About :

The former military airfield of Bergen was built in the years 1937-'39. On 10 May 1940, the airfield was bombed by the Germans. After that, it was set up by the German air force and many bunkers and hangars were built. After the war, the Ministry of Defence took the site into use. Luftwaffe During the war, the airfield was attacked by allied bombers. Initially, the airfield was used by the Luftwaffe as a base for fighters that attacked the allied convoys of bombers. After the allied invasion of Normandy, the airfield was abandoned and made unusable for the enemy by digging a grid of ditches and by wooden poles that were connected to each other with steel wires.
