There is not much more to be said about the bells of the Dresden Kreuzkirche at this point. On the recording you can hear the ringing as it appears after the suboptimal "ringing renovation" that was completed in 2011. All of the bells were cast in 1899 by Franz Schilling in Apolda and are decorated with Art Nouveau ornaments designed by the architects Rudolf Schilling and Julius Gräbner. The recording was made during the GdO International Organ Conference in Dresden at the end of July 2015. Bell 1: e° + 6 11511 kg Ø 2589 mm Crown decorated with lions' heads, decorative band with oak branches on the neck, below the inscription: O land, land, land, hear the word of the Lord. Jerem. 22.29 On the flank in three lines the inscription: Christian love founded me and my four sisters / after the fire at the Kreuzkirche on February 16, 1897. Bell 2: g° + 12 6825 kg Ø 2155 mm Crown decorated with eagles' heads, surrounded by passion flowers, on the neck a decorative band with passion flowers, below the inscription: Be reconciled / with God. 2 Cor. 5.20 Bell 3: ais° + 3 4929 kg Ø 1910 mm Crown decorated with grape vines, on the neck a decorative band with vine leaves, below the inscription: Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matt. 11.28 Bell 4: h° + 6 3251 kg Ø 1690 mm Crown decorated with rosewood branches, surrounded by roses, decorative band with angel frieze on the neck, inscription below: Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
