He says that the care provider must handle the data of patients with the utmost care. These rules are based on fundamental rights and confidentiality. Intentional violation is punishable. This is also the starting point of medical confidentiality. Jap Tjoen San discussed the difference between a medical autopsy and an autopsy requested by the judiciary in ABC Actueel. With a medical autopsy, the doctors indicate in advance that they want to be able to see whether the patient died of a suspected disease. Medical data is provided to the pathologist. In the autopsy requested by judicial authorities, only the question is asked whether a crime has been committed. If no crime has been committed, the pathologist will look at the cause of death.
