Today we will introduce you to our homemade wood splitter. The machine is already 23 years old and was originally built by our father. The wood splitter consists of a diesel engine and a hydraulic pump from a truck. The hydraulic cylinder is too short and the splitting wedge is too small. We have to modify the wood splitter so that the splitting wedge is guided better. We are also installing a longer hydraulic cylinder from an old excavator. This cylinder is 1 meter long. For the modification we have to work a lot with the angle grinder and the plasma cutter. We cut steel parts to size and weld steel plates together. Finally, the wood splitter is of course extensively tested and wood is split. We bundle the wood into bundles and tie them together with knots. This way we can store a lot of firewood.
