Marie Koldinská will talk with historian, philosopher and publicist Petr Hlaváček, an expert on European identities, about myths and misinformation connected with contemporary history. How do traditional Czech myths from the times of national revival of the Pan-Slavism type, sympathy for the East, mistrust of the West influence us today? What is the West, what is the East, what is the Center? What are we in the context of today's Europe? Do we know where we belong, or is Czech society divided and angry even under the influence of the migration crisis, the covid crisis, and now the war caused by Russian aggression in Ukraine? Are we strong and united only in times of crisis and always only temporarily? Or can the current experience with an unscrupulous information war strengthen us and in the future equip us with the resilience that we have lacked so far? Debating: ◾ Petr Hlaváček, historian and philosopher (Faculty of Philosophy of Charles University, Institute of Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic) and columnist (FORUM 24) ◾ Marie Koldinská, historian (Faculty of Philosophy of Charles University), screenwriter and moderator (Historia.cs) Record of the debate held 19 4. 2022 in the Central Library of the Municipal Library in Prague.
