He completed his Bachelor's degree in Theology at the Southern Presbyterian Seminary in Campinas-SP from 1978 to 1981 and his Doctorate in Ministry at the Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi, in the United States from 2000 to 2001. He was pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Bragança Paulista from 1982 to 1984 and has been the pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Vitória since 1985. He is also a member of the Brazilian Evangelical Academy of Letters, executive director of Luz para o Caminho, in Campinas, and a collaborating pastor at the Pinheiros Presbyterian Church in São Paulo.
