What is a throttle valve? Cleaning the throttle valve in a Toyota Corolla 150 The throttle valve regulates the air supply to the engine intake manifold to form a fuel-air mixture. On one side of the throttle valve is an air filter, on the other is the intake manifold. When you press the gas pedal, the valve opens slightly, allowing air to flow freely into the manifold. The more intensely you press the pedal, the more the valve opens and more air is supplied. The air-fuel mixture enters the internal combustion engine and affects the engine speed. Most budget cars are equipped with a simple throttle with a mechanical drive. It is easy to monitor its condition, so many car owners diagnose valve malfunctions themselves and fix them. In more expensive models, the throttle valves have an electronic drive. You should not remove and disassemble them yourself - it is better to entrust work with technically complex devices to specialists.
