The existence of the Carthusian nuns dates back to the origins of the Carthusian Order. It was in 1145 that the nuns of Prébayon in Provence, in the south of France, decided to adopt the rule of life of the monks of the Chartreuse. They were welcomed into the Order by Saint Anthelm, then prior of the Chartreuse. This is how the female branch of our Order was born. From that moment on, the Carthusian nuns and the monks formed a single Order under the direction of the same Minister General, the prior of the Grande Chartreuse. Marc Jeanson directed this nearly 23-minute documentary at the request of the Carthusian Order between 2016 and 2021. The same Order asked him to make two other documentaries dedicated to the Carthusian Brothers and the Carthusian Fathers. At the request of the Carthusian Order, Marc Jeanson filmed these three documentaries between 2016 and 2021 at the Grande Chartreuse Monastery; in the French Charterhouses of Portes, Reillanne and Nonenque, and in the Italian one of Serra de San Bruno.
