The diagnosis came at a difficult time in his life: he was unemployed, without money and without a roof over his head. Nevertheless, he did not give up, but dealt with his illness head on. Looking back, he can now say: he lived his life "hard". But even for him, this experience was "heavy" and the worst thing he has ever experienced. It is all the more astonishing how well he survived the treatment with major surgery and radiation and how composed and confident he is today when talking about what he experienced. In the video, Jens tells how he paid close attention to his body's signals during therapy and consciously avoided painkillers. After the operation, he could neither eat, drink nor talk. He had to learn everything again. And here too, the work with the speech therapist was far too slow for him. With the help of things he loves, such as rock and punk music or playing around with his dog, he found his own unconventional method of learning to eat and speak better again. Of course, this is not a path for everyone and his behaviour certainly caused astonishment or head-shaking among doctors and therapists. But it felt right to him. And it is precisely this unwavering focus on what is essential that has carried him through therapy. Jens concentrates entirely on himself and the things that are important to him, especially because he knows that his life is finite. 0:00 Intro 00:00:07 How did I experience the diagnosis? 00:15:47 How can cancer become an opportunity? -----Subscribe to our channel at: / @bayerischekrebsgesellschaft ----------------------------------------------------- -----Social Media: ???? / bayerische.krebsgesellschaft ???? / bayerischekrebsgesellschaft Technical terms used: Tonsils: tonsils in the area of the oral cavity and throat Metastases: these are secondary tumors of a tumor that spread to other parts of the body.
