#vacation #uruguay #travel A tip for those who want to plan a different vacation or, for those who live in the South of Brazil, enjoy long weekends, a tip is to go by car to Uruguay. From Curitiba to Punta del Este - round trip - is 3 thousand km. To get there you can choose different routes, along the coast or inland. To get from Curitiba to Uruguay you have two possible routes. 1) Along the coast of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul, on BR 101, which is almost all dual carriageway. 2) And another one on BR 116, inland, with a single lane, and which is a slightly shorter route. OUR CHOICE: We chose to leave Curitiba towards Vacaria, RS - taking BR 116 and, in total, on this first route, there were 5 toll booths, each one costing R$ 6.90. One still in Fazenda Rio Grande, in Paraná; another in Rio Negro, on the border with Santa Catarina; and the other three in the cities of Monte Castelo, Santa Cecília and Correia Pinto in Santa Catarina. (Total of R$34.50). We passed through Lages, on the mountain plateau, and continued for another hour until we reached Vacaria, in Rio Grande do Sul. The next day, we hit the road again, a 332 km journey to Porto Alegre. We traveled 228 km to Gramado - where we spent a few hours - and paid only one toll, R$7.10 in São Francisco De Paula. It was another 95 km to Porto Alegre, which we covered in almost two hours, passing through Novo Hamburgo and São Leopoldo. We paid two tolls on this stretch - at Três Coroas (R$7.10) and Campo Bom (R$3.25). From POA to Chuí is more than 500 km, it is the southernmost border in Brazil. And on this stretch, there were three more toll booths, at a cost of R$15.20 each. It is the most expensive stretch, without a doubt, but the road is very beautiful. There are straight stretches that seem endless and you can travel peacefully without having to worry. DOCUMENTS FOR THE BORDER: And leaving Chuy towards the Uruguayan coast, you will need to cross customs and present your documents. Let's take note of what you will need to bring PRINTED: PASSPORT OR ID DOCUMENT WITH PHOTO; CAR DOCUMENT; DRIVER'S LICENSE, IF YOU ARE THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE; GREEN CARD; PROOF OF VACCINATION; (since mid-February 2023, it is no longer necessary) HEALTH INSURANCE. ABOUT TOLLS IN URUGUAY: In Uruguay, it is a little different, because the toll plazas do not have that attendant waiting for you in an individual booth. So you will need to put a prepaid TAG on your car's windshield. For first-timers, you can buy the TAG at the first toll plaza you stop at (it's near La Paloma). It costs about 15 reais and they will charge it for you with the amount you intend to use. Then, if you want to add more credits, just charge it online. We will update this page soon with more links and information. ::::::: IF YOU LIKED IT, LEAVE A LIKE, SUBSCRIBE TO THE CHANNEL AND LEAVE YOUR COMMENTS.
