Welcome to the first lesson of the "English from Scratch" series! If you like what we do and want to support us a little, welcome to Boosty, where we publish additional interesting materials: https://boosty.to/happyenglishschool When Galina Aleksandrovna's video lessons for distance learning of our youngest students appeared, parents began to ask if it was possible to do something similar for them, for parents. Who is this course for? If you have already made repeated attempts to start learning a language because you were taught another one at school or to brush up on it because there is little left of your school knowledge. And you have watched many wonderful and useful videos on different channels, but you lack structure and consistency. Then this video series is for you. Of course, it will not replace regular lessons, but it will serve as a good basis and a powerful impetus for progress. I make my regular videos for those who have been walking in the waters of the English language for some time, so they are entirely in English. But these videos, as an exception, will be in Russian. How often will the lessons be held? If we see from your activity that the videos are useful, we will try to make them on a regular basis, like regular lessons - twice a week. So support them with likes and feel free to leave comments if you have any questions or suggestions. The pressed bell will help you stay up to date with new videos, so press it to know when a new lesson is released. And we, in turn, will be inspired by your support and continue to create new videos. What program will we use? The textbook we will use is called Side by Side. I will immediately leave a link to the entire textbook in the description under the video, perhaps you will want to print it out for convenience. This American textbook was specially created for those who came to the States and needed to adapt faster to a new language environment. Therefore, the examples in it are close to colloquial speech, and all the exercises are made in the form of dialogues, that is, not only grammar is trained, but also interaction with other people. And this is exactly why we are all here. How will these classes be held? Each lesson I will explain a certain topic, give examples and explanations. After that you will need to do the exercises yourself using the example I showed. This series of video lessons differs from many others in that it will require some effort from you. That is, if you want to advance in learning the language, you will have to do written work to make it easier to analyze your mistakes. But over time it will pay off, and will not just lie on the shelf with the inscription "another attempt to learn the language failed." As one Chinese proverb says: the teacher opens the door, but you must enter yourself. Remember that if you just watch these videos, you will learn only 10%. If you do the exercises orally, then 40-50%, but if you do them in writing, then 90% are guaranteed. And repeated repetition of grammatical constructions (several dialogues on the topic provide this) can raise this percentage even higher. Therefore, I advise you to do all these exercises in writing. It won't take much time, and the 10-15 minutes spent on yourself are worth it, because in the long run this will mean a good command of the language, and perhaps even fluency. After that, I will read out the correct answers to you, and you will check yourself. That is why they should be done in writing. And if at this stage you have questions, then ask them in the comments. I think it is not difficult, right? I advise you to write out all the unfamiliar words that you come across. It is not necessary to do this in a separate dictionary. It is enough to make fields in the exercise book. They can be at the bottom. You can take the translation of words from any online dictionary that you like, only with the proviso that it does not give one meaning for one word. I think you understand what I mean. One word - one meaning ... That is not how the language works. If you still need a good dictionary, then the ABBYY Lingvo dictionaries have wonderful dictionary entries, the paid versions are quite expensive, but there is an online version and I will also leave a link in the description.
