Whatever the weather, Christoph (37) is out and about as an explosive ordnance disposal expert at various clearance sites, looking for aerial bombs, grenades, etc. He approaches possible bombs bit by bit, because one wrong move could be life-threatening. "The bomber is here," is how Christoph likes to introduce himself on construction sites. But in his job he does exactly the opposite: he is responsible for searching for and identifying explosive ordnance. There are still plenty of them in Germany. They can be life-threatening during construction work, for example, if workers come across them and accidentally detonate them. Christoph is on duty to prevent this from happening. He has been working as an explosive ordnance disposal expert for ten years, and is now a squad leader and has the say at the clearance site. Christoph and his team are currently working on an agricultural area in Saxony-Anhalt; an agri-photovoltaic plant is soon to be built there. For this, posts have to be sunk up to 1.5 meters into the ground. This could be life-threatening for the construction workers, because there was a fuel plant nearby during the Second World War that was heavily bombed by the Allies. There are still aerial bombs and grenades in the ground that could explode if construction workers come across them. --- This is "Is it worth it?": One person, one job, one life. And at the end of the day, the question: Is it worth it? We accompany people in their jobs and show their lives. Is it worth it to work for a salary and use it to finance your own life? What makes me happy about my work? We don't just compare salaries, we show how people live from their work. We are always looking for protagonists: If you also want to show how you live with your job, feel free to write to [email protected]! On a personal note: We are not infallible either - and although we make every effort to present every individual financial situation clearly, correctly and understandably, we sometimes need help. The Bavarian State Association of Tax Advisory and Auditing Professions provides us with expert support – thank you very much for that!
