Presenters: Anna Popek and Robert Rozmus Generally, bites or stings are very difficult to recognize. A bedbug with a sucking apparatus, pierces the thin skin of the host and locally anaesthetizes and thins the blood flowing from the hair follicles - takes it as food. Human blood is needed by bedbugs for reproductive purposes, for laying eggs and for surviving for quite a long period without further food intake. Unlike other insects that cut the skin, such as midges and gadflies, the bedbug creates a tiny single hole around which redness and swelling often form. Not everyone does. Many people do not have such skin lesions. They are not allergic to substances that the bedbug releases with its saliva. The bedbug is an insect that feeds in quiet conditions, at night, when we sleep. Most often, bites appear on exposed parts of the body, i.e. on the neck, arms, legs. Often, the bites are clustered close to each other. In most cases, they cause itching, burning, which is why they are often confused with mosquito bites, especially in the summer. Bedbugs hide close to places where they can easily come out of hiding and drink blood. In over 90% of cases, this is the bed and its immediate surroundings, skirting boards, bedside tables, paintings, etc. The most important way to find it is to look very carefully at the bed. Sometimes you even have to unscrew them, look underneath, at the back and in all hard-to-reach places, e.g. upholstery seams. A trained eye, a magnifying glass, good lighting are essential. When you notice disturbing symptoms, e.g. traces of droppings (black dots) or eggs (white, the size of a grain of sugar) - you should start quick extermination - control. ----------------------------------------------------------- If you have any questions, need help, please contact us both in matters of control and the selection of appropriate products SHOP: www.pryskaj.pl SERVICES: www.pryskanie.pl ---------------------------------------------- All rights reserved Telewizja Polska SA 23.08.2023 TVP2
