<Mōri Series, Episode 10> It is the middle of the Sengoku period, and in December of the first year of the Kyōroku era (1528), Ouchi Yoshioki, the lord who served as the guardian of seven provinces including Suo and Nagato, passes away. Upon hearing the news, Amago Tsunehisa decides not to miss the opportunity and launches an invasion of Iwami and Bingo. Tsunehisa's third son, Shioya Okihisa, is entrusted with the attack on Iwami, and leads the Akaanatai (Red Hole Corps), the troops of Iwami's Ogasawara and Takahashi, to take control of the Iwami Silver Mine, one of the Ouchi's sources of funding, but is met with desperate resistance from the Ouchi army and struggles to take control of the mine. Meanwhile, Mori Motonari, a member of Aki Province who supported the Ouchi, takes action. After receiving a just cause for attacking Takahashi from the late Ouchi Yoshioki's successor, Ouchi Yoshitaka, he invades Takahashi's territory, which was thinly defended in the absence of his lord. With the help of local lords from Aki and Bingo, the Mori army took control of Takahashi's territory in about six months, and checked Amago's invasion of Iwami from the south. With the Mori army advancing north, Shioya Okihisa lost troops such as Takahashi and Ogasawara, and finally gave up on the invasion of Iwami and retreated to Izumo. Although Mori Motonari had more than doubled his territory, he realized that governing it would take time, so he devised a strategy to drive a wedge between the Amago and Takeda clans so that they would not turn their attention to the Mori. This strategy was a great success, and Shioya Okihisa, supported by temples and shrines such as Kitsuki Taisha, rebelled against his father, Amago Tsunehisa. In the Takeda clan, he also succeeded in causing a rift between the head of the family, Takeda Mitsukazu, and his senior vassal, Kumagai Nobunao, the lord of Takamatsu Castle, and Kumagai Nobunao, who repelled Takeda Mitsukazu's move to suppress Kumagai, decided to live as a Mori vassal. Takeda Mitsukazu, who is still unaware that his territory has been broken up by Motonari's plot, is planning future countermeasures at his castle, Ginzan Castle...
