Almost no one can ignore air fryers anymore - apparently they are small all-rounders. But can you really use air fryers like an oven and bake cakes, roast meat and conjure up crispy vegetables and fries? We tried it out. WHO ARE AIRFRYERS SUITABLE FOR? Hot air fryers can save you time and money - some models use less electricity than ovens and work faster. For example, you don't have to preheat and can prepare dishes in less time. For large families, air fryers should have a larger capacity. This means that if you want to prepare several things at the same time - possibly at different temperatures - you should get a hot air fryer with at least two compartments. ARE THEY SUSTAINABLE? In the laboratory, we test hot air fryers from Ninja, Turbo Tronic and Russel Hobbs for their durability. There are no spare parts for any of these devices, so repairs are not possible - so they are not really sustainable. AIRFRYER - "THERMOMIX" FOR THE OVEN? So can the hot air fryers be seen as small "Thermomixes" for the oven? In our practical test, the hot air fryers are versatile, but for fried potatoes, for example, the devices do not get top marks. Some potatoes are still raw and the preparation time is almost as long as if you were to cook them in a traditional pan.
