The cruise ship AIDAnova is the first cruise ship in the world to be powered by liquid natural gas (LNG). According to the operator, this reduces nitrogen oxide emissions by up to 80 percent and CO2 emissions by a further 20 percent. The natural gas cruise ship was built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Lower Saxony. Its 337 meters can accommodate up to 6,600 passengers, a television studio and even a theater. But the manufacture of the gigantic watercraft is a technical challenge, because the ship is made up of around 15 million individual parts. Our documentation on the construction of the natural gas-powered cruise ship accompanies the production of the AIDAnova from the first steel cut to the delivery trip.
