Adelheid and the employees of "Mord Zwo" are to be merged with the unpopular rival department "Mord Zwo". Detective Director Dünnwald wants to decide who will head this super department - Chief Inspector Strobel or Brinkmann from "Mord Eins" - through a competition: whoever solves the most cases in the next three months wins. To prevent her from helping "Mord Zwo" solve the cases, Dünnwald orders Adelheid to take a compulsory vacation. However, when the young student Elke is found strangled and her ex-boyfriend is accused of murder, Adelheid naturally starts her investigations again. This time not only to save an innocent man from punishment, but also to save "Mord Zwo". Always on the run from Dünnwald and Brinkmann, who think she is on vacation, she talks to the arrested ex-boyfriend and a fellow student and secretly visits the crime scene. While Brinkmann and Strobel still suspect the dead woman's ex-boyfriend or the professors, she follows a completely different lead. It leads to the managing director of a pharmaceutical company for which Elke took part in a series of tests for a slimming product and lost an incredible amount of weight in a very short time. Did Elke put pressure on the company because of some side effects? Maybe even blackmail them? Adelheid sneaks into the company and overhears a conversation that confirms her suspicions. Unfortunately, she is discovered and her life is in danger, because the head of the laboratory and his partner are involved in a multi-million dollar deal. The two of them are just stowing Adelheid in the trunk when Strobel and the rest of "Mord Zwo" arrive and are just able to save her. "Mord Zwo" has gained some ground in the fight against "Mord Eins", but Brinkmann is receiving massive support from Director Dünnwald and Adelheid is threatened with being transferred to the archives.
