Photovoltaic energy The nearly two million photovoltaic systems installed on roofs and slabs in Brazil bring great energy benefits, but in many cases they devalue architecture, which widens the gap between architects and solar energy. A more sustainable future for civil construction depends on architecture becoming more energy efficient, and technology has already evolved to the point where walls, coverings, windows and roofs also have the capacity to generate energy, adding beauty, elegance, multifunctionality, sustainability and efficiency. Called BIPV - Building-Integrated Photovoltaic Systems, or simply solar architecture, this integration between architecture and solar energy is now a global trend. In this webinar, architect and PhD in civil engineering Clarissa Zomer will address the importance, potential and barriers that still exist for solar architecture in the country, showing successful examples of BIPV in which she was involved, with emphasis on the photovoltaic brise-soleils of the Germinare Institute, in São Paulo - the multidisciplinary design process, the climate conditions, the intentions of architect Edo Rocha, the solutions adopted and an evaluation of the first four months of measurements. Guest: Clarissa Debiazi Zomer - Architect, PhD in civil engineering, specialist with 20 years of experience in photovoltaic integration in buildings, founder of Arquitetando Energia Solar, director of BIPV - Photovoltaics in Architecture and Construction at ABGD and director of Architectural Projects at Garantia Solar BIPV. She was a researcher at Grupo Fotovoltaica/UFSC, where she developed master's, doctoral and postdoctoral research from 2003 to 2020, during which time she did a sandwich doctorate in Singapore. She was responsible for large BIPV projects such as the Laboratório Fotovoltaica/UFSC itself and for technical feasibility studies such as those of Mineirão Solar and Megawatt Solar at Eletrosul. She has more than 60 MWp of projects for photovoltaic systems integrated into architecture and more than 50 published articles. Moderation: Mauro S.
