Well, why did it develop this way, why wasn't it integrated in the last decades, and why didn't it get a normal new function? The answer is very simple. Remediation of the soil after the railway will have to be done, and this alone may cost more than the land is currently worth. But if all this wasn't enough, since Rákosrendező was an important railway junction, II. As part of the carpet bombings of World War II, this area was cruelly sprayed, just like the other strategically important facilities in Budapest. So there is a good chance that there are more explosives in the ground than we can imagine now.
