He leaps over the mountains” (Song of Songs 2:8-14) A reading from the Song of Songs The voice of my beloved! It is he, he is coming… He leaps over the mountains, he runs over the hills, my beloved, like a gazelle, like a young deer. Here he is, he is standing behind our wall; he looks out of the windows, watches through the trellis. He speaks, my beloved, he says to me: Arise, my love, my fair one, and come… See, the winter is gone, the rains have ceased, they have fled. On the earth the flowers appear, the time of songs has come and the voice of the turtledove is heard on our land. The fig tree has formed its first fruits, the flowering vine gives off its sweet fragrance. Arise, my love, my beautiful one, and come… My dove, in the clefts of the rock, in the steep places, that I may see your face, that I may hear your voice! Your voice is sweet and your face is lovely. – Word of the Lord. Psalm (Ps 32 (33), 2-3, 11-12, 20-21) R/ Shout for joy to the Lord, sing to him the new song. (cf. Ps 32, 1a.3a) Give thanks to the Lord on the lyre, play for him on the ten-stringed harp. Sing to him the new song, with all your art sustain the ovation. The plan of the Lord remains forever, the plans of his heart endure from generation to generation. Happy is the people whose God the Lord is, happy is the nation that he has chosen for himself! We wait for our life from the Lord: he is for us a support, a shield. The joy of our hearts comes from him, and our trust is in his most holy name. Gospel “Where has this come from, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?” (Lk 1:39-45) Alleluia, Alleluia. Come, Emmanuel, our Lawgiver and our King! Save us, Lord our God. Alleluia. Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke In those days, Mary set out and went with haste to the hill country, to a city of Judea. She entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. Now when Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the babe leaped in her womb. Then Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and cried out with a loud voice, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.” Whence has this come to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For as soon as your greeting came to my ears, the babe in me leaped for joy. Blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of the words spoken to her from the Lord.” – Let us acclaim the Word of God.
