In Florence, the fourth and final stage of the CardioBreast Dragon Boat Festival transformed the Lungarno into a place of sport, solidarity and prevention, celebrating women in pink and their extraordinary strength. This unique event, born in 2022 thanks to the initiative of the National Institute of Cardiovascular Research in collaboration with the Italian Dragon Boat Federation and the unconditional support of Daiichi Sankyo Italia, focused on the importance of a healthy lifestyle and prevention, combining free cardiovascular screenings, physical activity and moments of sharing. The participants, women who had undergone breast cancer surgery, faced the waters of the Arno with energy and determination, demonstrating how sport can represent not only a means of physical rehabilitation, but also a psychological rebirth. Thanks to the collaboration between doctors, associations and companies, the festival raised public awareness of the risks of cardiovascular and oncological diseases, which are too often underestimated. Screenings such as cholesterol checks, electrocardiograms and blood pressure measurements offered participants a useful framework to prevent subclinical conditions and improve their quality of life. Dragon Boat is not just a sport, but a powerful metaphor of rebirth, a symbol of community and inner strength for all women facing the challenge of breast cancer. Every stroke on the water represents a step forward towards victory, not only against the disease but also against prejudice, offering a message of hope and determination for the entire community. With a survival rate of 88% in Tuscany, breast cancer remains a battle that requires not only cutting-edge treatments, but also an integrated approach that includes prevention and psychological support. Events like the CardioBreast Dragon Boat Festival demonstrate that collaboration between institutions, doctors and patients can make a difference, creating a bridge between health, empowerment and community.
