Witold Lisowski was born in 1932, he is a colonel of the Polish Army, participant of the Warsaw Uprising, social activist, former director of the Polish Army Museum and an active member of the Association of the Polish Righteous. Together with his mother, Zofia, he was honored (Zofia posthumously) with the Righteous Among the Nations medal in 1984. For years, Witold has been trying to obtain the title of Righteous for his brothers - Jan and Wiesław, who took an active part in hiding the young Inwentarz. In the 1930s, the Inwentarz family with two children - Józef and Fejgele - moved to Henryków on a plot of land purchased from Witold's father. Witold and Józef, known as "Dudek", became friends. The families lived in neighborly communion. In 1940, Symche Inwentarz was murdered in Palmiry, and Bejla Inwentarzowa and her children were relocated by the Germans to the ghetto in Ludwisin. Jan Lisowski, Witold's oldest brother, supported the Inwentarzs by delivering necessary goods to the ghetto and helped his friend Buba Gleichgewicht with smuggling. Only "Dudek" managed to escape from the liquidated ghetto. After several months spent in the countryside as a farmhand, Józef, in a state of extreme exhaustion, appeared on the doorstep of the Lisowskis' house. The family decided to hide him. During the day, the young Inwentarz stayed in a locked room, and in the evenings - after bolting the shutters - he spent time with the Lisowskis, treated as a member of the family. After several months, "Dudek", fearing denunciation, decided to leave the Lisowskis' house and hide on his own. After the war, he left for Israel. Witold Lisowski and "Dudek", who took the name Jozef Carmeli, met again in the 1980s. From then on, their families became friends, and their relationship continues to this day despite the death of "Dudek" in 1987.
