From KÅKÅnomics 2024. In the energy debate, two clear polar opposites seem to have crystallized: Those who are in favor of wind power vs those who are in favor of nuclear power. It is as if the culture war has taken over this field as well. Wind power has long been in the air, but public opinion has turned. According to the recent attitude survey by Norsk Monitor, support for nuclear power is increasing dramatically, but wind power is becoming less and less popular. Last year, Energy Minister Terje Aasland warned about nuclear power, but this summer he appointed a committee to investigate nuclear power's place in the Norwegian power system. What are the advantages and disadvantages of these forms of power? Should we invest in wind power or nuclear power, both or neither? And in that case, should wind power be built on land or at sea? On the panel: Ole Asbjørn Ness, civil economist, author, journalist and power analyst Thor Egil Braadland, Myndighetskontakt Fornybar Norge Leiv Ingve Ørke, executive director of Lyse Martin Hjelmeland, postdoctoral fellow, Department of Electrical Energy, NTNU Program leader: Hilde Øvrebekk, journalist in Stavanger Aftenblad
