It seems that more and more people are suffering from depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorders and other mental illnesses. The need for a therapist is great. So great that more and more people are also turning to online services. There are now apps that are prescribed and can help people with mental illnesses. However, these apps are not a substitute for psychotherapy and they certainly do not replace professional psychotherapists, but they can help with the waiting time for a therapy place. Alina was also looking for a therapy place for a long time. She called the emergency hotline because of her depression and went into inpatient treatment with therapists because she could not find a psychotherapist with a therapy place. And our author Florian also knows the arduous and difficult search for a psychotherapist and a suitable therapy place from his own experience. But why is it so difficult to find a psychotherapist? Why do many people spend years looking for a therapy place? Florian investigates the matter. His search for the reason for the lack of psychotherapy places leads him to desperate people who want an appointment with a psychotherapist. Florian meets with the Techniker Krankenkasse Sachsen to find out the reasons for the lack of therapy places. He also speaks to a psychotherapist who has even started a petition: she is unhappy with the current situation regarding the allocation of health insurance places for psychotherapists. Without a health insurance place, the therapist cannot bill his treatment through a health insurance company, meaning the patient has to pay out of his own pocket. And finally, Florian's research even leads him to a kind of broker based in Poland who sells health insurance places. The price he is asking for a health insurance place is actually 200,000 euros.
