The first "diesel" power plants built in the country began to provide electricity in Korça, Tirana and then in the main cities and centers of the country. The electricity produced with generators served to illuminate state institutions and families that were in a good economic situation. It must be admitted that at the time, the supply of electricity was considered a luxury due to the fact that the costs for installation were high and one kilowatt cost many times more than the salary of a day's work of a simple worker. During the period of occupation of the country, no investments were recorded for the construction of hydroelectric works. After the liberation, the first hydroelectric power plants began to be built.
