In this video I share how to do winter pruning on a fig tree!! Formative pruning: The purpose of formative pruning is to guide the growth of branches, in terms of the appropriate number, distribution and size. It means forming a plant with an architecture characterized by a crown with an open inner part and an adequate number of productive lateral branches. Cleaning pruning is done to remove dry branches, branches attacked by pests or diseases and unproductive, thieving branches. This operation can be done using pruning shears and saws. The objective is to eliminate foci of pests and diseases and allow better aeration of the plant.
