The Yakumo Express, which runs as a connecting express train connecting Yin and Yang from Okayama to Izumo City via the Hakubi Line and the San'in Main Line, was operated by the 381 series from the electrification opening in 1972 until recently, but from 2023 to 2024, the successor express train, the 273 series, will be manufactured at the Kinki Sharyo Tokuan Factory in Higashiosaka City, Osaka Prefecture, and will begin operation in April 2024. Eventually, 11 four-car trains, a total of 44 cars, will be introduced, replacing all regular trains. All of them belong to the Goto General Rolling Stock Center Izumo Branch, but the 381 series that have been retired due to their replacement are being scrapped and sent out one after another. I went to see the final appearance of the train at a facility in a non-electrified section.
