Visual identity (IDV) is a set of visual elements that represent something, such as a company, a product, a service, etc. This set of elements may vary according to each project, but it is common to find elements such as color palette, typography, patterns, textures, mascots, icons, among others. Among these elements we have the Logo, which is the company's visual signature, also known as a graphic brand. All the others take shape from this element, that is, all the components of a Visual Identity project originate from and surround the main element, which is the Logo. All these other elements of an IDV project act as supporting elements of the brand with the aim of enhancing it, as if they were squires of a knight, in order to fix it in the minds of its audience. It is very common for some people to confuse or associate visual identity only with the Logo. Obviously, this makes sense, because as we have seen, it is the main actor in an IDV project. However, a project like this is not composed only of this single element. A Visual Identity project is a set of visual elements that have the purpose of representing and distinguishing a product, service, etc. The professional responsible for an IDV project is precisely a Designer, or a team of Designers. Normally, a visual identity project is accompanied by a brand manual, which is a document that sets out all the guidelines for the application and correct use of the Visual Identity.
