Interpretation of the Sunday Gospel with Father Isaak Maria Käfferlein OCist from the Cistercian monastery Priorat Neuzelle @Cistercian Neuzelle To confess God as the only God means to recognize Him as the highest priority. And to love your neighbor as yourself means to do what pleases God. But what does that look like in concrete terms? In this new episode, Father Isaak explains the Sunday Gospel using a few examples and leads us to understand the double commandment of loving God and neighbor. November 3, 2024, 31st Sunday in Ordinary Time (B) Mark 12:28b–34 At that time a scribe went to Jesus and asked him, "Which commandment is the first of all?" Jesus answered, "The first is: Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is the only Lord. Therefore you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. And the second is: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these two. The scribe said to him, "Very well, Teacher! You have said quite rightly: He is the Lord and there is no other besides him, and to love him with all your heart and with all your mind and with all your strength and to love your neighbor as yourself is far more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices. Jesus saw that he had answered with understanding and said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God." And no one dared to ask Jesus a question any more.
