/ thegreatreview ok I have a lot to tell you. First, the remix at the end was done by @PickleScott who is incredibly talented and only has 200 subscribers, which is not normal. His remix of Luigi's theme from Mario Striker too, mind you. Second, this is a video I started writing when I finished the one on Shadow of the Colossus, so we are a solid two years late. I've been trying to make it for so long that you can still hear voice clips from back then. For example, at 07:45, it's Augustin from 2020 who talks to you about SotC's camera. You probably realize that this is too broad a topic to really cover, and too complex for anything I say to be perfectly true. Just trying to group the ways of doing things into categories was not very serious. I did it so that the video has a common thread, but there are as many methods of staging as there are games. And so any attempt at classification is futile. This is a very good thing, it means that thousands of studios have found their own ways of talking to players without having to stupidly write things on the screen or have them said by their voice actors. It wasn't very smart to make this video, when I'm the biggest YouTuber in France (in a month or two) people who have discovered me with stories and who are watching them in succession instead of doing their homework will come across this one, refuse to inflict 50 minutes of a guy talking about cameras without any storytelling and close YouTube, which will put me in a bad mood with the algorithm and reduce the channel's visibility. So not only did it take me 3 months to do these 2 parts, not only will it not get many views AND I didn't know how to cover the subject exhaustively because it's impossible, but it's also professionally unreasonable. But hey, Augustin of 2020 said he would do it and someone has to keep their promises for him. 00:00 Movies are cool 01:34 The problem with games 05:07 Color is easy to see 07:45 Grabbing the camera when the player isn't holding it 09:41 Using the level to direct the gaze 11:18 Call of Duty: the big show 17:44 God of War: taking back the camera by force 21:13 The topography of Toussaint 23:16 GTA: disobeying the rules 23:52 Nier: it only works if it's easy 25:27 The magic of music 31:55 The big trailers 32:55 Detroit and interactive movies 36:00 It's really not the priority 38:04 The Witcher 3: giving it your all, everywhere. 49:24 Red Dead on the wire 51:00 The most beautiful scene in the universe
