This documentary will cover in detail the key concepts of personality according to one of the most important authors of the psychodynamic school: Carl Jung. By applying the two energy orientations (Extroversion, Introversion) to the four psychological functions (Sensing, Intuition, Thinking, Affect), the Swiss psychiatrist identified and described eight cognitive functions that are the product of multiple combinations. Through his work Psychological Types, the Swiss thinker made known his particular classification based both on his practice of analytical psychology and on a deep study of individual differentiation during various pre- and post-Christian stages. At that time, psychology was still in its adolescence, especially with regard to the creation of experiments that conform to more rigorous empirical procedures. Given this, I would like the audience to take this dissertation as a philosophical essay with certain conceptual touches of psychology as seasoning, without prejudice to the mention of those ideas that are still partially or totally valid at the end of it. The first dimension concerns the orientation of psychic energy. Carl G. Jung observed that individuals tend to find their sources of energy, activation and dynamization through two paths: extroversion (E) – i.e., sourcing via the outside world and others – and introversion (I) – i.e., sourcing by virtue of oneself. The second dimension points to psychological functions. Carl G. Jung distinguished within the human mind two main classes of activity: perception (P) – i.e., the taking in of information – and judgment (J) – i.e., the processing of information.
