This week, the SH channel has travelled to Córdoba, the only city in the world with 4 sites declared World Heritage by UNESCO, above cities such as Rome or Paris. These award-winning places are the Mosque-Cathedral, the historic centre, the festival of the patios and the Caliphal City of Medina Azahara. Córdoba is a very interesting city full of art, culture and importance in the history books. Our route today started from the Roman Bridge. The first place we visit when we cross the Puerta del Puente is the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba. We immerse ourselves in its endless forest of columns and two-coloured horseshoe arches. A unique building in the world that also contains an impressive baroque cathedral inside. After visiting the Mosque-Cathedral we arrive at the Alcázar de los Reyes Católicos. Of this building we highlight its large and beautiful gardens, a historic fortress with a rich mix of Roman, Visigoth, Arab and Christian influences. The current building was completed by Alfonso XI in 1328 on the remains of the old Umayyad Alcázar. After visiting the Alcázar we headed through the historic centre to the Viana Palace. Meanwhile, we got to know some of the churches of Ferdinand, although on weekends we will not be able to access the interior of the first churches that Fernando III ordered to be built after the conquest of Córdoba. The Viana Palace (from the 15th century) is a clear example of the magic and art of the Cordoban courtyards, famous throughout the world. We visited its 12 courtyards and a garden and were intoxicated by the aroma of the flowers and the murmur of the water from its fountains. We continued to discover more places in the historic centre of Cordoba such as the Plaza de Capuchinos with the sculpture of Cristo de los Faroles and the Jewish quarter.
