I DIDN'T EXPECT THIS TO HAPPEN TO THE KOMBI'S ENGINE!! Even after the entire Kombi was repaired, we were caught off guard right at the beginning of the trip. We had a major oil leak in the engine and we couldn't let this make the situation worse. But to fix the leak, we needed to lower the engine and disassemble it to replace an important part. A small rubber seal broke and needed maintenance. We took advantage of a visit to the house of our friends Rafael and Débora from the channel @CabenosdoisBr to repair the engine. We were very well received by this kind couple, who opened the doors of their home to welcome us and help us at such an important moment in our trip. After all, fixing a Kombi's engine on the road is complicated, since we can't get parts or a place with a structure and tools. We made an adaptation with a spare tire and wood to be able to lower the engine safely, since it is suspended in the Kombi's trunk, fixed by 4 screws along with the gearbox. We took advantage of the situation and replaced the oil cooler in the Kombi's engine. We did a lot of research, talked to our friend Eduardo from Itajaí/SC who is a mechanic and bought the Aluminum Radiator for the Volkswagen Beetle that is recommended for our engine because it is an air-cooled 1600 engine. We waited for the replacement parts to arrive at our friends' house. In the meantime, they took us to see the entire region of Sombrio and Morro dos Conventos in the city of Araranguá/SC, and of course, had a lot of fun and laughed a lot to relieve the tension of repairing the Kombi Mel. After the maintenance on the Kombi's engine, the most difficult moment arrived: fitting the engine back into the Kombi WITHOUT TOOLS OR STRUCTURE and getting the Kombi to start again so we could go on our trip!
