About :

One of the most significant names in the history of choro – alongside Pixinguinha and Jacob do Bandolim –, Waldir Azevedo (1923-1980) achieved national success with his compositions at the turn of the 1940s and 1950s, becoming the main person responsible for the popularization of instrumental music in Brazil. On the 100th anniversary of Waldir's birth, the work of the composer and cavaquinist remains alive in the soundtracks of Hollywood films, in the Olympics and, of course, in all the choro circles spread throughout the country. Author of classics such as “Brasileirinho”, “Delicado” and “Pedacinhos do céu”, Waldir Azevedo is honored by three cavaquinists from different generations and cities: Henrique Cazes (RJ), Messias Britto (BA) and Camila Silva (SP). With musical direction by Gian Correa, production and artistic direction by Igor Nikolai and Lucas Nobile, the show in tribute to Waldir Azevedo mixes hits with other lesser-known works by the composer. The soloists were accompanied by a group formed especially for the show: Gian Correa (7-string guitar), Henrique Araújo (cavaquinho and mandolin), João Camarero (guitar), Xeina Barros (percussion), Alfredo Castro (percussion) and Conrado Bruno (trombone).
