After a decade with Klaus Iohannis, Romanians are now called to elect a new president. It is a moment when trust in the political class and in the presidential institution is probably at its lowest levels since 1990. And this was also felt in the electoral campaign. In a society increasingly reluctant to political offers of any kind, the candidates did not have the courage to meet the voters, focusing in particular on televised debates, online interviews and electoral actions as controlled as possible. Although rarer than before, public events remained, however, those in which the image of the candidates is the least cosmeticized. That's why I followed the most important of them at some of the meetings with citizens they had in recent months: the religious pilgrimage to the relics of St. Parascheva, launching of candidacies, tree planting, communal gatherings. This is what the 2024 election campaign film looks like. --------------------- Recorder is an online publication built by a team of journalists around these principles: honest journalism, done with passion and put into public service.
