Above the confluence of the Vltava and Sázava stood a town whose square was as large as in České Budějovice. However, the town of Sekanka above the holy island, where one of the first Czech monasteries was founded, disappeared before it had time to build stone walls. Gold mining soon ended, the monastery was destroyed by the Hussites, and the landscape was once again taken over by the forest. The cycle used maps created on the basis of data from the Czech Land Surveying and Cadastral Office. #strednicechy #rekavltava
