I had been eyeing The Poppy War (https://amzn.to/3aFpgKo) for a while, but after watching a video by @ResenhandoSonhos I was convinced. It had been a while since a fantasy book had caught my attention so much, so I took advantage of the excitement and bet on this story that has very strong references to the history and mythology of China and the Second Sino-Japanese War.
